Mr Bean

Founded in 1995, Mr Bean is the leading chain soya bean food & beverage retailer in Singapore today. With more than 50 stores in Singapore & Asia, Mr Bean offers a variety of soya bean drinks and snacks. Young and old can enjoy refreshing ice blended flavoured soya drinks, ice-creams, pastries and more.

Current overseas outlets are located in Japan (ie. Tokyo), China (ie. Guangzhou), and The Philippines, with continued plans to expand across Asia.

Challenge

With outlets dotted all across Singapore, Mr Bean is a familiar presence in shopping malls and MRT stations. When Mr Bean engaged socius360 to undertake the design and implementation of their POS system, there were around 70 Mr Bean outlets in Singapore. Mr Bean required socius360 to design a software that suited the operations of the chain, and to install the physical equipment at each outlet.

Shortly before socius360 started this project, Mr Bean adopted the SAP ERP system, which enabled them to monitor different data coming from each of their retail outlets. The management at Mr Bean thus wanted a POS system that was able to export different data sets into their new SAP ERP system.

Solution

To ensure the smooth execution of this project, socious360 spent six months on the preparation phase. The tasks involved the setting up of necessary software and equipment, configuring the system based on the unique requirements of Mr Bean, and running user-acceptance tests to ensure that everything ran smoothly. Because of the solid groundwork, actual system deployment was completed in just one month. This included getting the system ready, providing training to the management and staff at all 70 outlets, having the system go live, and connecting the system of each outlet with headquarters.

The new POS system is able to export different types of information from the different outlets to Mr Bean’s SAP ERP system. The management can now monitor sales information, inventory, fulfilment, account receivables, and stocktake data of all of Mr Bean stores from the chain’s headquarter office. The new POS system is simple to use, and record keeping is now easier than before.
